CRESDA Emergency Monitoring of Mining Dam Collapse Accident in BrazilPublishDate:2022-07-27

  On January 27th, 2019, China Resources Satellite Application Center launched an emergency response mechanism to monitor the collapse of a mine dam in Brazil. Emergency dispatch of 6 high-resolution satellites GF-1, GF-2, GF-1B, GF-1C, GF-1D and GF-3 to observe the accident area. Till January 31st, 2019, a total of 6 imaging sessions and 10 satellite data have been procured, which were immediately provided to the Remote Sensing Center of the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Disaster Reduction Center of the Ministry of Emergency Management. In the follow-up, China Siwei will arrange multiple satellites for imaging according to the disaster situation to provide strong support for disaster prevention and mitigation.

  On January 27th, the Remote Sensing Center of the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Disaster Reduction Center of the Ministry of Emergency Management proposed satellite emergency imaging requirements for the dam collapse accident of Vale, Brazil's largest mining company.
