GEO (Group on Earth Observation, world largest group on Earth observation among governments)PublishDate:2015-11-18

CRESDA has worked with GEO for a long time, undertaking project tasks, and fulfilling international obligations. It is one of the units supporting the GEO China Secretariat.

CRESDA actively participates in various activities of GEO and plays a role in global observation, resource survey, environmental monitoring and other aspects. CRESDA has also undertaken projects such as institutional development and personal capacity, infrastructure construction projects, and the Global Forest Observation Plan in the "GEO 2012-2015 Plan" and "GEO 2016-2025 Plan". It has provided strong support for the Chinese government to carry out international earth observation cooperation, which mainly includes:

First, undertake international exchanges and cooperation related to GEO data sharing. CRESDA has undertaken GEO's short-term, medium- and long-term work plan "Infrastructure Construction Project (Project IN-01-C2) - South Africa Station Construction Project (IN-01-C2), Institutional Development and Personal Capacity (ID-02-01), Global Forest Observation Program Implementation of the project (SB-03-C2); participating in the work of the GEO "Institution and Development Implementation Committee" (IDIB); promoting data democracy and the distribution of China's land observation satellite data in Africa to achieve data sharing and services.

Second, undertake data collection and related technical support work of the National Comprehensive Earth Observation Data Sharing Platform. CRESDA is responsible for producing sample datasets of CBERS satellite series, HJ satellite series, GF satellite series and ZY satellite series (hereinafter collectively referred to as domestic land observation satellites), providing archived data metadata database and regularly updating and submitting.

Third, undertake the implementation of the GEO work plan project. CRESDA promotes the implementation of the South African station construction project, helps to promote the China-ASEAN remote sensing data sharing platform, and assists in the promotion of the Global Forest Observation Project (SB-03-C2) project to provide CBERS-04 star data to promote data sharing.

The fourth is to process and provide sample datasets of domestic land observation satellites and upload them to the website of the National Comprehensive Earth Observation Data Sharing Platform for website users to use; provide real-time cataloging information retrieval; provide land observation satellite archived data metadata and regularly update and submit.
